Abstract

An elective course on politics and nursing offered an excellent opportunity for a group of registered nurses to develop their political knowledge and skills. They experienced political involvement through the use of a learning contract that required the implementation of one or more political activities, which included working campaign phone banks, interviewing candidates, attending municipal meetings, and working in a voter registration drive. At the end of the course, students recognized the difference they could make in the political process. © Lippincott-Raven Publishers.
