Abstract

X-ray diffraction measurements were carried out to study the C60/Au(110)-p(6 × 5) system. It was found that the C60 adsorption is accompanied by important displacements of underlying Au atoms. A calyx-shaped arrangement accommodated better the fullerene molecules situated at (0, 0.6) and ( 1/2 , 0.4).
