Abstract

The study related to characterization of the shoreline of Langkawi archipelago and to identify the types of shoreline and the sensitive areas based on Environmental Sensitivity Index. Characterization of shoreline were done by particle sieve analysis and satellite imagery. There are few types of shoreline include coral beach, man-made structure, mangroves, mud flat, rocky and sandy. Well graded particles with higher porosity are found at Pantai Pasir Hitam which it contains a lot of tourmaline and illmenit. The poorly graded sand is represented by samples from Tanjung Rhu.
