Abstract

This study aimed to identify the influencing factors for adoption of the practice of physical activities perceived by oldest old. This qualitative research involved 69 women with 80 years or older participants of social groups. The data were obtained for focus groups technique and interpreted by content analysis. The influencing factors identified for the physically inactive oldest old were: The family and its tasks, physical activity and its methodology, positive attitudes towards the practice of physical activities, to be with each other and positive way to experience the aging. The physically active beyond to deployment of the same influencing reported: Activity of the preference and indications for physical activity practice. Knowing this factors for the practice is essential for the develop of the strategies and plan actions for the Physical Education professionals the were applied before, during and after the classes, seeking the adoption and continuity of the oldest old in these activities.
