Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a game-based teaching approach in improving reading fluency among Grade 2 learners. The research was conducted with Grade 2 students at Domonar Elementary School, located in Brgy. Domonar, Ormoc City, Leyte. A quasi-experimental design was employed to assess the effectiveness of the approach. Comparison of pre-test and post-test scores revealed that students' performance was significantly lower in the pre-test, while post-test results demonstrated a notable improvement in reading proficiency. These findings suggest that the game-based teaching approach is effective in enhancing the reading fluency of Grade 2 learners. Based on these positive results, a sustainability plan was developed to ensure the long-term implementation of this approach.
