Abstract

An overview of the physics based exploratory research going on in the field of information technology is presented. The incorporation of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensors into the hard-disk drives has the capability of energizing the entire industry. In regard with it, the highlights of IBM Research work in the microelectronics sector are also reported.
