Abstract

This article contains vital information about the Iranian approach to negotiations. Demonstrating their commitment to their abnormal negotiating methodology, the Iranian negotiators advance demands that seem to be all about religion. Consequently, understanding the role of religion in Iranian political life, the actual objectives that the Iranians are negotiating to defend or attain, and the confounding strategies that they have adopted to defeat the enemy seated across the table from them should help the United States and its allies to apprehend what is really happening at the negotiating table at which one of the parties considers winning every point as an article of faith. © 2010 NCAFP.
