Abstract
A 15-question survey was completed by 120 participants in 7 Kentucky Master Logger training programmes. The survey was administered immediately after the third day of the 3-day programme, which included first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, forest ecology and silviculture (including best management practices), woods safety and business management. For the most part, students rated all training except business management as very positive. Most (113) participants would be willing to attend on additional days. Professional foresters to assist harvesting were never used by 62 participants. After training, 74 participants said they would be more likely, and 22 said they would be less likely, to use a professional forester.
