Abstract

A total of 22 species representing 11 genera of ptyctimous mites (Acari: Oribatida) were found in samples from six localities in the Australasian Region and included two new species, Microtritia paranovazealandiensis sp. nov. from Papua New Guinea and Plonaphacarus difficilis sp. nov. from Western Australia, which are here described. Some morphological remarks on Acrotritia sterigma (Niedbała, 1998), Arphthicarus scuticus Niedbała 2006 and Austrophthiracarus perti (Niedbała, 1987) are given.
