Abstract

This paper presents experimental results from a study to assess the dynamic effect and similitude effect on reinforced concrete beam-column joint. There are many limitations to perform dynamic experimental tests with full scale beam-column joint structures. For this reason, reduced-scale models have been largely used for dynamic loading tests. Moreover, the dynamic effect is replaced by using static test results in current provisions. The length scale ratios of specimens were 1:2:4 and eight specimens were tested at the frequency ranges of 0.0025Hz∼5.0Hz. It was confirmed that the modeling techniques based on the similitude requirements were a useful method to evaluate the behavior of full-size reinforced concrete structures subjected to earthquake type of loadings.
