Abstract

In order to know deviation of molecular weight averages of polymers obtained by size exclusion chromatography at different laboratories, molecular weight averages of the same polymer samples were determined at 26 laboratories. The experimental conditions for size exclusion chromatography were not united, but were followed by the conditions used at respective laboratories. Relative standard deviation of molecular weight averages at each laboratory were between 1 and 3%, but those of averages among 26 laboratories were 16–18% for number-average molecular weight and 7–10% for weight-average molecular weight. © 1995, The Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry.
