The aim of the current paper was to analyze and explore the research published on the topic of Chinese interior design. The researcher analyzed the research published in the past decade (2012-2022) by applying a PRISMA method-based systematic review of research. The researcher used four phrases made up by mixing and matching the keywords that were used to extract articles (journals and conference papers) from Scopus, WoS, and Google Scholar. A total of 35 papers were included in the review after carefully filtering out irrelevant research. All of the included papers were qualitative in nature. Most of the studies were experimental case studies, while some were review or concept papers. The researcher included research that was originated in China or written by Chinese authors, was published or presented in the English language between 2012 till 2022 and addressed some topics of Chinese interior space elements or design strategies. The majority of reviewed research was published in the past 5 years. Moreover, the main focus was on the integration of traditional elements and regional design in modern interior design. The other revealed themes were emotional design, “New Chinese Style”, the use of technological innovations like virtual and augmented reality, etc. The researcher has summarized the implications and future directions of research.
