Abstract

This study aims to find out student's error and factors causing errors made by students in solving stories problems on geometry using Fong's Schematic Model for Error Analysis. Fong classifies errors into two stages. This study used qualitative research with purposive sampling. Data collection was done by written test method, interview and documentation. Analytical steps are data reduction, data presentation and verification. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded that the errors made by students, are: incorrect, incomplete, or not writing out that is known and asked; incomplete in writing the formula; incorrect write (=) with (:); not writing conclusions; incorrect, incomplete or not even write down the volume's unit; incorrect in search of volume; incorrect in operation of multiplication; wrong in planning what to do; incorrectly changing the unit of meter into centimeters. While the factors that cause the error are: in a hurry to finish the problem, less thorough, less understood of question, less understood of material, wrong in applying information that involves short-term memory of the brain, and less understood of symbol (=) with (:). .
