Abstract

Within this article our goal is to underline elements of the organizational/corporate culture regarding the social responsibility attitudes and practices of companies from the Romanian – Hungarian trans-border region, with a focus on policies regarding the environment and the involvement within the community. The research has been carried out within a European funded project concerning the establishment of a sustainable development business center (The survey carried out within the project: ‘BHB – Sustanaible Development Business Center’ contract HURO/1101/175/2.1.1). Data was collected via face-to-face interviews conducted in 405 Romanian and Hungarian companies from a proportional quotas sample. While for most items there were no significant differences recorded between the two countries, Romanian companies display a stronger concern for waste management and the Hungarian ones discuss more often with their neighboring communities critical common issues. Statistical checks performed largely reject the possibility that these differences are due to the dissimilar industry structure of the two countries.
