Abstract

The influence of heat treatment conditions and severe plastic deformations (SPD) by ECAP on ultrafine grain structure formation and mechanical properties development of EN AW 6082 aluminium alloy was investigated. The dependency of mechanical properties of alloy on two types of solution heat treatment (T SA=673K+slow cooling or TSA = 823K +quenching), condition of ECAP process and post-ECAP aging (ambient temperature, 373K, 443K) or annealing (TA=373 - 573K) treatment were tested. The best properties of EN AW 6082 alloy (0.2%YS = 408 MPa, UTS = 427 MPa, El. = 20.1 %, Re. = 29.3 %, impact toughness = 16.5 × 10-4 J.m-2) were achieved after solution annealing (TSA=823K/5400s + water quenching) followed by severe plastic deformation (3xECAP/293K) and artificial aging (TAA=373K/108 000s).
