Abstract

Lucuma is a fruit tree native to South America, it is produced in Colombia, Ecuador, north-ern Chile, and Peru, being the main producers worldwide with an 88% participation. How-ever, there is little information on its genetic base, which is the basis for further agronomic evaluations, genetic improvement, selection and reproduction of materials with desirable characteristics in a program to promote and diversify agricultural production. Reason why it was proposed to carry out a genetic characterization of populations of Pouteria lucuma “lucuma” from the village of Naubamba in the District of Usquil. The results show DNA extracted from good concentration and quality, as well as amplification with all used ISSR markers and high number of polymorphic bands with a high polymorphic loci ratio per marker.
