Abstract

The article analyzes the potential significance of neutrophil dysfunction in people with type 2 diabetes. It examines the consequence of altered antimicrobial-sensing protein profile in obesity-related metabolic disturbances. Several factors fueling immune system homeostasis include saturated fatty acid-rich diets and advanced glycation end products. Information about several markers of neutrophil dysfunction and metabolic disease include lactoferrin, bactericidal/increasing permeability protein, and human α-defensins.
