Abstract
The article discusses the use of student learning outcomes (SLO)-based grading for assessment of learning. The Lyles College of Engineering of California State University, Fresno conducted an experiment in summer 2011 hoping to find out the impact of SLO-based grading. Fourteen courses were identified and tested by the faculty and they found that using SLO-based grading changed the way instructors look at their student's work. They also recommended the use of an SLO-based grading system.
