Abstract
Agricultural land is part of the earth as a gift of God which is controlled by the state and utilized for the prosperity and welfare of the people, as mandated in the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia 1945. The existence of agricultural land can provide great benefits for economic, social, and environmental. Changement landuse from agricultural to non-agricultural, causing decreased productivity of agricultural land, so that it appears the hypothesis that the decline of agricultural land will affect food security. Based on these problems, the research conducted to asses the relationship between changement in agricultural landuse with food security; a case study in Magelang District in 2009 until 2011. This research method using the spatio-temporal GIS, quantitatif analysis, and field calibration. The results showed, that agricultural land area decreased 6.31%, but food security is not declining, because the food source of Magelang regency come from several areas around. From these results it can be concluded that the reduction of agricultural land does not significantly affect the food security status of the certain area, but in the long term,the decline of agricultural land will affect national food security. So, to maintain food security, land use control is necessary to prevent degradation of agricultural land for the establishment of national food security.
