Abstract

Two gram negative anaerobic cocci, A. fermentans, described by Rogosa, and M. elsdenii, recently renamed and redescribed by Rogosa, have been isolated from animals. Fecal bacterial cultures from 40 normal humans yielded elsdenii from four individuals and A. fermentans from 10 individuals, with two individuals having both organisms.
