An Exploration of Factors Influencing Users' Continuance Intention of Smart Locks

Abstract

This study aims to explore users' continuance intention of smart locks by identifying the antecedents of users' use intention by establishing a research model based on the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and the Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM). The Structural Equation Modeling was employed to evaluate the research model, with a sample of 254 Chinese users who have experience with smart locks. The results indicated that: (1) Satisfaction and habit predict users' continuance intention directly; (2) Trust has a strong positive impact on satisfaction; (3) Brand, reliability, and security risk are important because they impact satisfaction indirectly through the mediating role of trust. The findings provide both empirical evidence for the sustainable growth of the smart home industry and practical insights for the design and advancement of smart locks.
