Abstract
Roof is an important part of a building as a cover for all the rooms underneath it against the temperature outside, rain, wind, and dust. This paper presents a comparison analysis on selection roof tiles such as fired clay tile, galvalume and asbestos towards roof truss construction and room temperature underneath the roof. In addition, cost construction will be analysed. This study took place around Gonilan village, Sukoharjo to measure the room temperature, then continued by redesigning roof truss. The material for roof truss was lightweight steel and the redesign included its construction cost analysis. The result showed highest cost construction per m2 of roof type belonged to fired clay tiles (IDR 251,563.04), followed by galvalume (IDR 211,429,54), and asbestos (IDR 207,977.03). The result of room temperature measurement showed that the use of fired clay tiles gave room temperature of 30.01° C, asbestos was 31.10° C, and galvalume was 31.48° C. Considering roof truss construction cost and room temperature measurement, asbestos was recommended for housing roof tile. However, fired clay tiles was recommended for comfortable room temperature. In addition, galvalume can be an alternative of roof tile but it was more suitable for large room area.
