Abstract
Communication between the predominantly Eng-speaking Canadian central government & francophone Canadians is discussed. Although documents must by law be issued in French, they are generally issued in Eng & then translated. The issues of authenticity & quality in the French documents can then be raised. Quality may be affected by the amount of time provided to make the translation, access to resource materials, & quality of the original text. It is suggested that translations be made more authentic by adapting the translated text, where necessary, to the target-lang culture. B. Annesser Murray
