Abstract

In the present work, nano-crystalline Li0.5CexFe2.5-xO4 (x = 0, 0.05) were prepared by hydrothermal method. The materials were characterized by using XRD, SEM, FTIR, Raman, VSM and impedance spectroscopy. The results obtained by XRD showed that these crystallites were stable at room temperature and formed in a stable cubic inverse spinel structure of space group P4332. Due to its structural stability, ac electrical properties have been analysed in terms of complex impedance and modulus for both the samples as a function of frequency and composition at different temperatures. Dc conductivity at room temperature was obtained and Li0.5CexFe2.5-xO4 (x = 0.05) showed the higher conductivity. Non-Debye nature of relaxation processes were confirmed from the analysis of impedance and modulus spectra. Investigation on magnetic properties has been carried out by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) for both the samples at room temperature and for Li0.5CexFe2.5-xO4 (x = 0) at 5 K and 300 K temperature.
