Abstract
1) There are three types of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN): Type 1 is due to a Menin mutation, and Type 2A and Type 2B are due to Ret mutations. 2) MEN Type 1 has a high penetrance for parathyroid hyperplasia. 3) One-third of patients with gastrinomas have MEN Type 1. 4) MEN Type 2A and 2B are characterized by medullary thyroid carcinoma and pheochromocytomas.
