Abstract

Aluminum Al-Cu-Mg alloy has been subjected to high pressure torsion (HPT) and equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) at various temperatures. An ultrafine-grained (UFG) structure thermally stable up to a temperature of 175 °C was produced in all the investigated samples. Simultaneous increase in strength and ductility has been demonstrated in an ECAPed sample in comparison with a coarse-grained sample subjected to standard treatment. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
