Abstract

Six intratracheal cuffs of 4 basic types were evaluated to determine their function during simulated aeromedical missions. They were: Rusch, Portex (conventional low residual volume cuffs); Kamen Wilkinson (foam rubber cuff); Shiley, Foregger (low pressure, high residual volume cuffs); and McGinnis (high residual volume cuff with attached control balloon).
