Here, we present the corpus of documents kept by the Immigration Department and the Office of Civil Registry and Identification in Antofagasta, between 1900 and 1930, related to the presence of Argentines both in the towns in the Andean foothills and the Calama-Chuquicamata nucleus during the peak of the nitrate cycle. Argentine immigration was related to the historical continuity of social and commercial links in the Atacama area. The flow of professionals and those in specialized fields became involved in mining and commercial activities, while individuals in non-specialized jobs found work in agriculture and livestock.
