Abstract

We investigate the THz properties of nematic liquid crystals as a function of temperature. In particular we focus on the refractive index the absorption and the birefringence. From the measured data, molecular properties (polarizability and S parameter) are deduced. We discuss the impact of the molecular chain length on the polarizability. ©2010 IEEE.
