Analyzes current theory on contemporary capitalism to define its overall dynamic, argue for its open-ended & malleable nature, & predict its medium-term political & economic impact on the world's governing structures. It is contended that the dynamic nature of capitalism & its complex economic & extra-economic social relations open it to external influences. Predictions for its future roles are placed in the context of the continued reduction of nations' state authority & the internationalization of policy regimes. The future of the nation-state is also discussed, focusing on its redefined role as the center for bourgeois democratic political accountability. 40 References. Adapted from the source document.
