Abstract

This study aims to describe the concept of luck for the people of West Sumatra. Luck is uncertainty above all things. The method used is a mix method or a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Data were collected using an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed through an indigenous psychology approach. This study resulted in six main categories equipped with sub categories that describe the concept of luck, namely positive affect, negative affect, spirituality, vigilance, self-reflection, and others. The conclusion is that the people of West Sumatra have various concepts of luck.
