Abstract

Student engagement and service learning has turned into an important part of the community colleges’ discussions about effective educational run through and students accomplishment as the institution includes engagement within its strategic plan. Service learning offers an exceptional prospect to engage students in community service, to develop their educational agenda and to construct mutual partnerships within the community. Community engaged teaching can present unique and sometimes knotty challenges for which many are not equipped. Although, serving community is an important objective in higher education, but in most of developing countries, the process of development is slow to meet local needs and challenges of and globalization..The paper aims to understand what is Academic service learning and Community Engagement. The opportunities and challenges faced by the community services have been identified and the solutions have been proposed. Few guidelines have been suggested in the end to implement service learning in Diploma Program.
