Abstract
Purpose: Prevalence of allergic diseases in Japan is increasing due to a genetic predisposition and the environmental factors, eating habits, living environment, such as air pollution. And also has been attracting attention about the relevance of bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis. University student become adulthood from minors during the Campus Life (The socially adulthood is 20 years old in Japan). In addition, lifestyle is changes simultaneously with the university admission (e.g. Living alone, Alcohol drink, Eating habits). However, support system and evidence for the university student are lacking. Therefore we investigated the current situation and countermeasures of students in non-medical university located at the disaster area. Methods: Allergic diseases (such as bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis) were discovered during the medical checkup of university freshmen in 2012. We investigated face-to-face medical interview and questionnaire in 12 bronchial asthma cases (Mean age 18.2 ± 0.58) that had the informed consent was obtained. Results: All subjects were from disaster areas (The Great East Japan Earthquake) and the surrounding area. The prevalence of allergic rhinitis in patients with asthma was 25.0%. Recurrence rate was 38.5% after university admission. 46.2% had dropped out of hospital visits at their discretion. There is the self-portable prescription records system (Japanese domestic system), 85.7% had been holdings. However, always carrying subjects were only 14.3%. And Grasp (possible dictating) ratio of the treating drug names was only 7.7%. In The Great East Japan Earthquake, the disappearance of the medical records made struggling to medical treatment in the disaster affected areas. However, over 90% of them did not know above the incident. Conclusions: Despite the study in the affected areas, surprisingly these results were revealed the current situation of low self-care recognition. In addition, these results were suggested that need to construct treatment strategy about initiatives of Disasters Precept. University freshmen was low recognition of themselves situation. This is considered cause of childhood period onset, we considered that be important of guardian's education. Therefore we suggested that need more widely (include non-disaster areas) aggressive detailed Medical interview and education before and after college admission.
