Abstract

The purpose of lateral load bracing systems is to resist lateral forces due to wind and earthquake. It is shown in the mathematical development presented that in addition to the belt truss location another parameter is of major importance. This other parameter is a function of properties of the core as well as properties and spacing of the exterior columns of the structure.
