Abstract

Villages are the spearhead of Indonesia's development which have an important role in national development efforts because the Indonesian population tends to live in rural areas so that this has a considerable impact in efforts to create national stability. In this case, the local government is currently implementing dynamic and systematic approaches in order to support strengthening the wheels of the village economy through the establishment of economic institutions that are fully managed by the village community, namely the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa). The purpose of this study was to determine the role of BUMDes in empowering communities in Seketi Village at Sidoarjo. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research approach. Data obtained through observation and interviews. The results of this study are the role of BUMDes in community empowerment, namely as creating the potential for the community to develop, as taking real steps and involving the provision of various inputs (inputs) and making access to various opportunities (opportunities) that will make the community empowered, and to protect interests by developing a protection system for the community which is the subject of development
