Abstract
Abstract There are mental activities that are different from formal cognition in solving mathematical divergent problems. This mental activity is cognition intuitive or intuition. The objective of this study is to explore students’ intuition of both Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD) in solving mathematical divergent problems. The subjects of this study were selected students of MAN Model Banda Aceh with FI and FD intuitive styles using GEEFT test. The results showed that students with both FI and FD intuitive style using direct affirmative intuition style in understanding mathematical divergent problems and direct-holistic anticipatory intuition style in solving mathematical divergent problems. FI students using anticipatory holistic intuition in problem solving planning while FD students did not use any intuition. FD students using holistic anticipatory intuition in reviewing mathematical divergent problem solving while FI students did not use any intuition.
