Abstract

Davenporlia R.W.Johnson is described as new. It differs from existing genera in the tribe Merremieae in its pollen morphology, hair type and bracteoles. Ipomoea davenportii F.Muell. is transferred to the new genus with the new combination Davenportia davenporsii (F.Muell.) R.W.Johnson. Descriptions, illustrations and a distribution map are provided for Davenportia and its sole species.
