Abstract

This article presents the design strategy for the power management electronics of a wireless sensor node (WSN) powered by vibration energy harvesting. The energy harvester employed is a commercial piezoelectric cantilever. The electronic structure proposed is composed of LTC3588-1 extraction circuit, super-capacitors storage with balancing sub-system and activation switch output sub-system. To validate this architecture, a prototype has been developed and experimental results are presented.
