The Value of Milk Replacements in the Rations of Dairy Calves

Abstract

A milk replacement formula is presented which produced calves equal in rates of growth and general appearance to milk fed controls under the conditions of these experiments. A replacement containing 20 per cent beet pulp was found to produce certain deleterious effects, under the conditions of this trial. These symptoms were not prevented by the oral administration of ascorbic acid, biotin, vitamin free casein, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin, choline-chloride, 1-cystine, methionine or vitamin A.
