Abstract

Currently, one of the methods to improve the properties of materials in construction is the use of nanomaterials. The objective of this paper is to review the technological advances in the application of nanomaterials, which improve mechanical properties when used in concrete, soils, pavements, among others. A total of 82 articles corresponding to the Scopus, Ebsco, Science Direc and IOP Science databases were reviewed. The studies show that with the application of nanomaterials, positive results are obtained in the improvement of the compressive and flexural strength of concrete, improvement in the stabilization of soils and in asphalt, avoiding the formation of grooves and cracks. The studies conclude that the applicability of nanomaterials in the construction industry is a good alternative from a sustainable point of view, in order to reduce the indiscriminate use of non-renewable resources.
