Abstract
The major relevance of socialization in higher education institutions relies on its contribution to students’ success. Accordingly, this research was aimed at examining the influence of socialization experiences on diverse groups of undergraduate students’ learning at the University of Gondar. In order to achieve the research objectives, a mixed-methods approach was used: data were collected by using questionnaires, semi-structured and key informant interviews. The semi-structured interviews were conducted with purposefully selected eight full time third year undergraduate students. Similarly, key informant interviews were conducted with six purposefully selected department heads, the dean of students and teachers who work in the University of Gondar. Finally, the quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics such as one sample t-test and multiple linear regression tests whereas the qualitative data were analyzed by applying deductive thematic analysis strategies. The findings of this study showed that the socialization process has a significant effect on the students’ learning process, (R2 =.34, F (9, 371) = 14.15, p
