Abstract

Ten constructs are discussed briefly to stimulate awareness {&} discussion of characteristics demonstrated by the second language learner along with those variables affecting the efficiency with which he learns a foreign lang. A bibliography is included of the following categories: (1) intelligence, (2) language aptitude, (3) learning environment--physical setting, (4) instructional environment--strategy, (5) memory, (6) sociocultural factors--attitude, (7) personality, (8) motivation {&} perseverance, (9) sensory register {&} perception--preferential sense modalities, {&} (10) speech templates related to motor {&} phonological skills.
