Abstract

A steel plate heated uniformly at 900 degree C was cooled by axial symmetric bar-shaped water flow and the cooling process was examined. A numerical model with which the measured results can be simulated is given. The model is to be used with the appropriate combination of the heat transfer coefficient inside the forced water cooling zone and the growth rate of the zone. Theoretical cooling curves were found to match the experimental ones.
