Abstract

The — 1,0 -> 0,0 lines of methanol at 48.3 GHz have been detected in both Sgr A and Sgr B2 OH. The Sgr B2 emission is found to extend over an area at least 5' X 10'- The indicated column density of methanol is ~2 X 1016 cm-2, and the total mass of the neutral cloud is esti- mated to be ~106 Mq.
