Efficiency analysis of tumbu sugarcane production using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) in Dawe District, Kudus Regency

Abstract

Tumbu sugar is sugar that is produced using sugar cane as raw material which is packed with woven bamboo. This research aims to evaluate the technical efficiency of using tumbu sugar production inputs in Dawe District, Kudus Regency. This research uses secondary data and primary data from questionnaires, the population in this study as many as 192 tumbu sugar craftsmen then testing the population using the slovin formula and obtained 85 samples of tumbu sugar craftsmen in Dawe District. Data analysis using data envelopment analysis (DEA) with DEAP2.1 software application. The results showed that 46 tumbu sugar craftsmen (54.12%) were currently in an inefficient position. According to the SE value, 39 tumbu sugar producers (45.88%) have reached full efficiency, indicating that the DMU has met both the CRS and VRS assumptions. There are no powdered sugar craftsmen who experience DRS. This means that tumbu sugar craftsman must currently enhance the quantity of existing inputs to attain efficiency.
