Abstract
In the field of intimate partner violence against women (IPVAW), empirical evidence obtained by procedures fitting measurement standards is crucial to validate the most appropriate explanatory model. It is therefore essential to analyze the evidence provided by data obtained through the instruments used, what is its adaptation to the requirements of the measurement standards for psychology and how appropriate are the inferences of results. Therefore, this paper analyzes the relevance of including the gender category in the analysis of intimate partner violence against women and the epistemological and methodological consequences derived from its exclusion.
