University research with artificial intelligence

Abstract

In recent decades, we have witnessed a rapid and significant change in the paradigm of university research thanks to the progressive incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). University research, traditionally anchored in conventional methods and approaches, has undergone a revolution driven by AI’s ability to process large amounts of data, identify complex patterns and generate predictive insights. This work aims to analyze teachers’ perceptions of the ethical challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in academic environments and propose approaches to address them. To do this, a survey with a Likert scale was applied to a community of university teachers. The results reveal a high degree of agreement with the existence of significant ethical challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in university research. The lack of transparency in algorithms, the identification of ethical biases and the need for clear institutional policies were prominent themes.
