Abstract

Cross-domain network and service management is still a challenging task. Most network management solutions that exist today are only applicable to single, homogeneous domains. Due to their distribution and technology- independence, P2P overlays have very good potential to boost inter-domain network and service management. The proposed work intends to explore this potential in order to develop efficient, trusted and secure cross-domain management, with benefits in terms of performance, resilience and support for autonomic operation. This paper explains the main challenges in this respect, discusses the basic approach to be taken and identifies the contributions. © 2009 IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.
