Abstract
Cinnamon bark ethanol extract was formulated into a spray gel preparation with a concentration of 10%, 20%, and 30% and then applied to the surface of the rabbit's skin to determine the level of irritation of the cinnamon bark gel spray preparation in adult male rabbits of the New Zealand strain. The preparation was applied to the skin of the rabbit's back, which had been cleaned of its fur and then divided into 5 parts, namely the first part without any preparation treatment, the second with base spray gel, the third part with 10% spray gel extract, and the fourth part with 20% spray gel extract. and the fifth was applied with a 30% extract gel spray. Observations were made for the presence of reddish spots (erythema) and swelling or the presence of fluid (edema) after the preparation was applied to the rabbit's back skin for 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours. The test results showed that the 10%, 20%, and 30% cinnamon bark ethanol extract spray gels, respectively, had a primary irritation index of 0.04; 0.02; and 0.00. The irritation index is included in the very mild irritation response category (negligible).
