Abstract
This study investigates if using building information modelling (BIM) affects construction companies’ environmental sustainability, sustainability performance, and branding. Construction companies in Finland were surveyed to gather data. The findings indicate that BIM does not have a direct impact on sustainability performance or branding. But, it does seem to make a difference when it comes to environmental sustainability as it acts as a mediator between BIM and sustainability performance, and BIM and branding. The results underline that the BIM's influence on sustainability performance and branding is realized through environmental sustainability. Digital technologies play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of all businesses. BIM is one of the technologies that can create exceptional sustainability opportunities, particularly when these connected products, services, and operations transform businesses. However, the mechanisms through which BIM contributes to sustainability are empirically under-researched.
